FARAH AL QASIMI: GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

On view at Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, which is managed by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the exhibition General Behaviour presents US-based Emirati artist Farah Al Qasimi’s photographic and video-based works, exploring the layers of multi-culturalism and consumer culture in the UAE, while challenging our perception of reality and navigating the intimacy of public and personal spaces.

Closely connected with the theme of the exhibition, Cinema Akil will be showcasing ‘The Birds’ by Alfred Hitchcock, about the beautiful blonde Melanie Daniels who is inexplicably attacked by a seagull, and suddenly thousands of birds are flocking into town, preying on school-children and residents in a terrifying series of attacks, and ‘The Housemaid’ by Kim Ki-Young, about a piano composer and his pregnant wife who need extra help around the house, so they hire a housemaid whose precociousness soon gives way to troubling behavior.
