Opening Program at Cinema Akil

INDEPENDENT FILMS. EVERY NIGHT.

For the love of film, Cinema Akil permanently opens its doors at Warehouse 68 in Alserkal Avenue starting September 28 with a brand new program. Cinema Akil’s most bombastic program yet kicks off with two regional premieres: Palme d’Or nominee YOMEDDINE directed by Abu Bakr Shawky and critically-acclaimed documentary film MCQUEEN, about the life and career of notorious fashion designer Alexander McQueen directed by Ian Bonhôte, Peter Ettedgui.

The opening program combines highlights from the world’s pre-eminent film festivals, exclusive regional film premieres with powerful independent titles and cult classics to provide an original and eclectic cinematic experience. As Alexander McQueen once said, “Give me time and I’ll give you a revolution” – you’d better hold on to something.

In addition to the cinema space, Cinema Akil will house Project Chaiwala, the neighborhood Chaiwala, a homegrown tea concept in the UAE which will be open for all-day dining inside the cinema.

Tickets are only available at the cinema for purchase from September 28. The full calendar can be seen on www.cinemaakil.com/calendar
