Hedi, a young man with great dreams, is struggling his way through social conventions in Tunisia. While his mother tries to decide his life for him, Hedi meets Rym and suddenly he discovers that his world goes beyond and above conventions. Hedi’s lead actor Majd Mastoura won the Silver Berlin Bear at the Berlinale, making it the first Arab film to win the prestigious award.
“This debut feature, which was executive produced by the Dardenne brothers and shares the compassionate naturalism of their approach, takes a small-scale domestic drama and turns it into an allegory for contemporary Tunisia, a country caught between tradition and modernity.”
